Autism Research Review International
The latest findings are gleaned from a computer search of the 25,000 scientific and medical articles published every week. A one-year subscription is $20 (US funds; $24 outside the US). Each issue is sent via first class mail.
Clinical Research in ASD
In collaboration with the Schafer Autism Report, the Autism Research Institute publishes a free quarterly e-newsletter titled "Clinical Research in Autism." It provides online links to up-to-date clinical research related to patient care, and is for pediatricians, nurses and obstetricians. |
Host a screening of AGI's film: "Trauma Warriors"
Recently, ARI's Autistic Global Initiative team premiered the feature film "Trauma Warriors" at the CU School of Medicine, Denver, in collaboration with JFK Partners. We received a large number of inquiries and regrets from those unable to travel to Colorado to attend. In response, AGI is now opening up a film-hosting program. In Remembrance: Dr. Jaquelyn McCandless  Our very dear friend, Jaquelyn McCandless, M.D. passed away earlier this year. ARI has established a memorial research fund in honor of Dr. McCandless. One-hundred percent of the contributions to the fund will be earmarked for research studying interventions that were pioneered and/or supported by Dr. McCandless. You can make a donation on ARI's secure website by selecting "I want my donation credited to the Jaquelyn McCandless Autism Research Project (JMARP)" (located near the bottom of the webpage).

| Dear ARI Subscriber, I am pleased to announce our new collaboration with Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education to create the complimentary CME-certified webcast series Autism Spectrum Disorders: Research and Medical Treatment Implications. Viewers will learn how behavioral improvement can be achieved when underlying comorbid medical and neurological issues associated with autism spectrum disorders. The presentations on the Cleveland Clinic's Center for Continuing Education website address medical comorbidities common in autism, including gastrointestinal, metabolic, and neurological issues. I would like to thank Marvin Natowicz, M.D., Ph.D of the Cleveland Clinic for spearheading the effort and serving as the activity director for this enduring education series as well as the featured experts Dr. Tim Buie, Dr. Margaret Bauman, and Dr. Mark Korson. Watch now. Additional CME courses are in the works for 2015. We plan to close down data collection for our subtype survey and adult medical issues survey in less than a week. If you have started but have not had a chance to finish either one or both surveys, please do so on or before Sunday, November 23. We will then begin the data analyses phase of both studies, and we hope to have some results by mid next year (if not sooner). Learn more & take a survey I would like to mention again that Jessica Kingsley Publishers will be publishing the 50th anniversary issue of Dr. Bernard Rimland's classic book Infantile Autism. Besides the book itself, many experts in the field have contributed updates on many of the issues raised by Dr. Rimland in his book. If you don't know, this book destroyed the then-common belief that autism was caused by poor parenting. In addition, Dr. Rimland discussed many insightful ideas and set forth numerous hypotheses for future research-many of which have not yet been studied. You can preorder the book on Amazon.com.
